Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center in Walsenburg, CO seeks a Health Information Management Director to lead all aspects of patient health records across our critical access hospital, clinics, and long-term care services. In this key leadership role, you will oversee HIM operations, coding, release of information, documentation integrity, and regulatory compliance, while partnering closely with clinical, billing, and IT teams. Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all health information management operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete patient records for the hospital, clinics, and long-term care services.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, federal and state regulations, coding standards, and accreditation requirements for documentation and data privacy.
  • Supervise, mentor, and schedule HIM staff, fostering a collaborative, patient-centered team culture.
  • Oversee clinical documentation integrity, chart audits, release of information, and record retention policies.
  • Collaborate with clinical, billing, and IT teams to optimize EHR workflows, coding quality, and data reporting.
  • Develop and monitor HIM department policies, procedures, KPIs, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support revenue cycle integrity through accurate coding, documentation support, and timely record completion.
  • Lead or support health information-related projects, including system upgrades, data governance, and training.
