Bachelors degree from an accredited program in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics and completed a Dietetic Internship.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
Required by hire date to obtain MS Department of Health Provisional Dietitian license. Within 6 months of hire date, required to obtain RD from Commission on Dietetic Registration and MS Department of Health Dietitian license.
Responsibilities:
Initiates nutrition assessment and nutrition care plans for patients with complex medical conditions, including those on enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support, using the nutrition care process.
Monitors nutrition progress and reassesses nutritional status.
Documents in a timely manner according to department and facility guidelines and protocols.
Provides nutrition counseling and education to patients, family members/personal care providers, and other members of the health care team.
Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, constant activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, constant sitting, constant standing, frequent twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
Participates in processes supportive of organizational and departmental goals including staff meetings and in-services, patient care rounds, hospital and departmental committees, performance improvement activities, productivity and other reports and special projects related to area of practice.
