General Description:
The Pharmacy Inventory Control Specialist I is an entry‑level role responsible for performing foundational pharmacy inventory management and procurement support activities. This position supports safe medication availability by receiving, stocking, organizing, and tracking pharmaceuticals and supplies while developing working knowledge of pharmacy purchasing practices, inventory systems, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:

Receives, inspects, and stocks pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, verifying accuracy, expiration dates, and storage requirements.
Maintains organized inventory locations and rotates stock in accordance with first‑expire, first‑out (FEFO) principles.
Performs routine inventory transactions and manual or system‑based tracking to support inventory accuracy.
Assists with cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation activities under guidance.
Supports processing of medication and supply returns in accordance with vendor and organizational procedures.
Collaborates with pharmacy buyers and inventory leadership to monitor stock levels and track purchase orders.
Coordinates with suppliers to place routine orders, confirm deliveries, and resolve basic discrepancies.
Maintains accurate documentation related to purchases, deliveries, inventory movement, and adjustments.
Develops working familiarity with pharmacy inventory management software and automation tools.
Demonstrates foundational understanding of the 340B program and purchasing requirements to support compliance.
Complies with all regulatory, safety, and organizational standards related to medication handling and inventory control.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as a pharmacy technician required.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Active permit as a Pharmacy Technician by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy or ability to achieve permit within 90 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn inventory management systems.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to follow established procedures and documentation requirements.
Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Willingness to learn pharmacy procurement processes, automation systems, and regulatory standards.
