Under the direction of the Manager Interventional Radiology the Technologist performs a wide variety of Diagnostic and interventional radiologic (IR) procedures in accordance with physician orders. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge, skill and the ability to work in close cooperation with members of a team of physicians, nurses and other technical staff. The Technologist participates in research projects, inventory management and staff training. Is involved in the evaluation/instruction of new techniques and equipment. The technologist interacts with patients daily and maintains a safe, respectful and comfortable environment for the patient.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Technologist assists the interventional radiologist/or vascular surgeon in the performance of diagnostic and invasive vascular and IR procedures.
• Performs operation of imaging and interventional equipment and evaluates image quality.
• Knowledge of and responsible for supply inventory, expiration and stocking. Maintains monthly checks for supply expiration, patient database, eyewash and equipment competencies.
• Utilizes and troubleshoots all adjunct diagnostic and interventional modalities necessary to complete IR and vascular procedures. Assists in recording, storing, retrieval and analyzing data obtained during cardiac, vascular, and EP procedures.
• Provides technical skills necessary to assist the physician in performing interventional radiology and vascular procedures.
• Cooperate and assists with shift coverage and on-call responsibilities.
• Follows departmental guidelines and protocols in the scheduling and documentation of exams, maintaining accurate and complete records relative to the examination performed.
• Will maintain a friendly, respectful manner with patients and is responsive to the patient's physical, psychological and social needs. Explains procedures clearly and concisely. Maintains proper hand hygiene.
• Will cooperate and assist with cross-training and orientation of other employees and students.
• May be required to assist with tasks that facilitate the operational flow of the unit.
• Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and to all federal regulations with regard to radiation safety.
• Must be able to wear a lead apron and stand for long periods of time, multitask, work quickly and efficiently.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required:
• 3-5 years related work experience required
• Must be able to work in a 20lbs lead apron.
• Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical specific to functional areas and related systems.
• Knowledge of IR lab inventory.
• Minimum 3 years recent related experience in Angiography (Special Procedures).
Education Required:
• Associate’s degree required in Radiologic Technology. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Radiology.
Registration/Certification:
• Active Massachusetts RT license
• ARRT
• American Heart Association ACLS and BLS
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay Range:
$41.53 - $68.35This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley .
