Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a cath/EP lab. Must be able to scrub for all types of heart caths, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and EP procedures.
Required Credentials: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Graduate of an accredited program in Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, or Cardiac or Vascular Sonography, or equivalent academic program and experience.) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI). Valid BCLS certification required/ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.

Unit Details: Uses Merge Hemo documentation system. Clinical work includes cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology, including lethal arrhythmias and acute myocardial infarction. The lab performs diagnostic cardiac catheterization, percutaneous intervention, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and electrophysiology procedures. Procedures include PTCA, directional and mechanical rotational atherectomy, electrophysiologic testing, permanent pacemaker implant, therapeutic ablation of dysrhythmias, and implantable cardioverter defibrillator procedures. The role includes monitoring diagnostic cardiac catheterization and percutaneous intervention procedures, identifying coronary anatomy in cine angiographic projections, and identifying cardiac pressure waveforms. Cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, and ACT (Activated Clotting Time) measurements are performed, and basic hemodynamic parameters are calculated using the recording computer. Extraction devices include AngioJet, Rotablator, and laser revascularization devices. Angiographic imaging may be supplemented with intravascular ultrasound and Doppler velocimetry technologies. The Cath Lab fluoroscopy system and its components are used to provide physician visibility during procedures. The role includes recognizing and alerting physicians to abnormalities in arterial blood gases, electrolytes, hemoglobin, BUN, and creatinine. May assist with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff and participate in relevant committees and special projects.
Shift & Scheduling: Full-time, weekdays with one variable weekday off per week. On-call required: 1 weekend per month (5p Friday–6:30a Monday) and 4 weeknights per month (5p–6:30a next day). No weekend commitment outside of on-call.
