As Director of Nursing Professional Development at MEDSTAR HEALTH, you will lead system-wide strategies that advance nursing practice, education, and clinical excellence across our community-based hospitals and care sites. You will oversee needs assessments, orientation, and continuing education; design evidence-based development programs; and guide specialty certifications and clinical ladders. Partnering with nursing, medical, and interprofessional leaders, you will foster a patient-first, learning-focused culture that promotes innovation, quality outcomes, and professional growth for nurses at all career stages. Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic vision and implementation of nursing professional development across the health system.
- Assess organizational learning needs and design evidence-based education and competency programs.
- Oversee nurse orientation, onboarding, residency, and transition-to-practice initiatives.
- Develop and manage continuing education, specialty training, and clinical ladder programs.
- Collaborate with nursing and medical leadership to align development initiatives with quality and safety goals.
- Use data, outcomes, and regulatory requirements to guide program evaluation and improvement.
- Mentor, coach, and supervise nursing professional development and education staff.
- Promote a culture of lifelong learning, innovation, and evidence-based practice.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements related to nursing education.
