Computed Tomography Technologist

Job Description

Angel Medical Center, part of Mission Health, is seeking a CT Technologist to provide high-quality imaging services in our full-service critical access hospital. In this role, you will perform CT procedures, ensure patient safety and comfort, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and fellow technologists. You'll utilize advanced imaging equipment, follow established protocols, and maintain accurate documentation. Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality CT examinations according to physician orders and established imaging protocols
  • Verify patient identity, review orders, and obtain relevant clinical history to ensure appropriate exam selection and optimization
  • Position patients accurately and safely on the CT table, using immobilization devices and proper body mechanics
  • Administer IV contrast material safely, following departmental policies and monitoring patients for adverse reactions
  • Apply radiation safety principles, including ALARA, shielding, and appropriate technical factors, to minimize exposure to patients and staff
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after CT procedures, recognizing and responding promptly to any changes in condition
  • Collaborate closely with radiologists to ensure optimal image quality and to clarify protocols or special imaging needs
  • Document all exams, contrast usage, and patient information accurately in the EMR, RIS, and PACS systems
  • Maintain CT equipment, perform basic troubleshooting, and promptly report malfunctions or safety concerns
  • Follow infection prevention procedures, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and exam rooms between patients
  • Support emergency and trauma imaging needs, prioritizing cases and responding quickly to STAT and add-on exams
  • Provide clear, compassionate explanations to patients and families, addressing questions and alleviating anxiety related to CT exams
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, dose monitoring initiatives, and protocol optimization projects
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, and other members of the care team to support coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Engage in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with CT technology, safety standards, and best practices
