Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures in a busy acute-care teaching hospital. Responsibilities include preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating gamma cameras and PET/CT equipment, ensuring accurate image acquisition, and adhering to radiation safety standards. The technologist will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning, maintain detailed patient and imaging records, and provide compassionate, patient-centered care. Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of nuclear medicine imaging procedures following physician orders and departmental protocols
- Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately
- Operate and troubleshoot gamma cameras, SPECT, SPECT/CT, and PET/CT imaging systems
- Apply radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff, and self, including proper handling and disposal of radioactive materials
- Verify patient identification, obtain relevant clinical history, and explain procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation
- Process, analyze, and transfer images to PACS, ensuring diagnostic quality and completeness of studies
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for quality control, radiation dose, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, and other clinicians to support timely diagnosis and treatment planning
- Participate in quality assurance, equipment calibration, and routine performance testing
- Support training and orientation of students or new staff as needed in an academic teaching environment
