RN Clinical Information Systems Coordinator

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Registered Nurse Clinical Coordinator for our 4th Floor Ortho/Neuro/Stroke Unit. In this role, you will coordinate patient care, support clinical staff, and promote evidence-based practices to ensure high-quality outcomes. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, mentor nurses, and assist with unit operations and quality initiatives. Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day clinical operations on the 4th Floor Ortho/Neuro/Stroke Unit to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
• Serve as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses, assisting with complex orthopedic, neurologic, and stroke patient management.
• Oversee patient flow, including admissions, discharges, and transfers, to optimize bed utilization and support throughput goals.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, case management, and ancillary services to develop and execute interdisciplinary care plans.
• Provide direct patient care as needed, performing comprehensive assessments, administering treatments, and evaluating patient responses.
• Support and facilitate evidence-based practice, ensuring adherence to unit and hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in and often lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives related to orthopedic, neurology, and stroke care.
• Assist with staff scheduling, assignment-making, and real-time staffing adjustments to match patient acuity and volume.
• Precept, mentor, and support the professional development of new nurses, graduate nurses, and nursing students on the unit.
• Engage patients and families in education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and post-discharge care, with emphasis on stroke and orthopedic recovery.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and accountability consistent with MUSC's mission, values, and academic health center environment.
• Contribute to data collection, outcome tracking, and reporting related to clinical performance measures and accreditation standards.
• Actively participate in unit-based councils, committees, and other shared governance activities to advance practice and care quality.
