OhioHealth is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will perform diagnostic imaging procedures, ensure high-quality images, follow safety protocols, and provide compassionate care to diverse patient populations. Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Position and immobilize patients safely and accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing discomfort and anxiety.
- Apply radiation safety measures and ALARA principles for patients, self, and staff, including correct use of shielding and exposure factors.
- Verify patient identity, review exam orders, and ensure accurate documentation and labeling of all images and records.
- Operate radiographic equipment, including digital and portable X-ray units, and utilize PACS/RIS and EMR systems efficiently.
- Assess image quality and repeat images only when necessary, escalating concerns about findings to radiologists and ordering providers as appropriate.
- Assist with contrast studies and support radiologists and other clinicians during specialized procedures within scope of practice.
- Monitor patients during and after procedures, recognizing and reporting changes in condition promptly to the care team.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment, following infection prevention and control standards and equipment cleaning protocols.
- Perform routine equipment checks, recognize equipment malfunctions, and coordinate appropriate service or maintenance notifications.
- Collaborate with nurses, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, patient-centered care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.
- Participate in orientation of new staff or students, and engage in ongoing education and competency assessments to maintain and enhance technical skills.
- Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and workflow efficiency initiatives within the imaging department and broader organization.
