Essentia Health is seeking a detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to support our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will prepare and maintain sterile operating rooms, assist surgeons and nurses during procedures, and uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique and patient safety. Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterile and functioning.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and supplies.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection-control practices.
- Anticipate surgical team needs and help ensure efficient workflow.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures.
- Handle specimens safely and label accurately for laboratory analysis.
- Support patient positioning and draping under clinical direction.
- Collaborate with the care team to promote patient-centered, holistic care.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to procedures and supplies.
- Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement, and safety initiatives.
