Cone Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols
- Ensure accurate patient identification, verify orders, and obtain informed consent when required
- Prepare, position, and instruct patients to obtain optimal images while prioritizing safety and comfort
- Operate radiologic equipment, including fixed and portable units, in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings
- Apply radiation safety principles for patients, self, and staff, including proper shielding and exposure technique selection
- Utilize PACS/RIS and electronic health records to document procedures, verify orders, and ensure accurate image labeling
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other clinical staff to support timely diagnosis and coordinated patient care
- Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and repeat exams only when medically necessary while minimizing radiation dose
- Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean, safe, and ready state, and promptly report malfunctions
- Follow infection prevention and control standards, including appropriate use of PPE and cleaning protocols
- Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care, explaining procedures and addressing questions to reduce patient anxiety
- Support training, mentoring, and onboarding of students or new technologists as needed
- Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuing education activities within Cone Health
- Adhere to Cone Health policies and regulatory standards set by The Joint Commission, state, and federal agencies
