Job Summary:  To perform diversified duties in the Electrophysiology Lab and Hybrid OR, assisting the electrophysiologist intra-procedurally including preparation and positioning of patients, operation of x-ray equipment in radiological and fluoroscopic procedures, scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters according to policy. Must successfully complete corporate and department specific skill validations and maintain core competencies.

Core Competencies:    The RN will be competent to monitor, circulate, and scrub diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology studies, ablations, and device cases such as: generator changes, PPM and ICD implants including complex CRM devices, device explants, lead extraction, venogram, temporary PPM, left atrial appendage closure, implantable loop recorders, and operation of cardiac stimulator. Responsibilities may also include training new or existing employees.  The RN Staff may progress to RN Intermediate or RN Advanced by completing skill validations and maintaining competencies to monitor, circulate, and scrub additional EP Lab procedures.

Work Schedule & Case Coverage Expectations: EP Lab team members are not included in the STEMI on-call rotation. However, to support inpatient add-on electrophysiology cases, a designated late team is scheduled Monday through Friday. These extended shifts are assigned in advance and rotated equitably among staff to ensure fair distribution and predictability. We strive to maintain a collaborative environment where scheduling reflects both operational needs and staff wellbeing. Flexibility and teamwork are key to delivering exceptional patient care in a dynamic procedural setting.

Qualifications:   Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, patients, physicians, and families to achieve positive outcomes. Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license required).  BLS/ACLS certification required.  Experience in an EP Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology or other procedural setting, critical care, ED, telemetry, or other cardiac nursing background is preferred. CEPS or RCES certification preferred.  

Applicants with 2 or more years of experience in an EP Lab may be considered for the RN Intermediate skill level. Applicants with 3 or more years of experience in an EP Lab may be considered for the RN Advanced skill level. Applicant must successfully complete the corresponding competency requirements and skill validations within 90 days of hire to maintain the RN Intermediate or RN Advanced skill level.
