JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of IT Infrastructure leadership, this role provides advanced technical expertise and support for Campbell County Health’s network and communication systems. Responsibilities include network design, administration, troubleshooting, and ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across the organization. The position mentors junior technicians, maintains accurate network documentation, supports policy and standards development, and leads key projects that enhance network performance, security, and efficiency. A bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience is typically required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides expert support for daily network and communication system operations with excellent customer service.
  • Manages vendor VPN and remote access connections using best-practice security.
  • Oversees firewall and WAN security, design, and configuration.
  • Develops and presents network infrastructure design and implementation plans.
  • Communicates technical concepts effectively with team members and partners.
  • Identifies and implements improvements in security, data integrity, and workflows.
  • Maintains authoritative network diagrams and documentation.
  • Proactively monitors the network, anticipates issues, and leads resolution efforts.
  • Gathers requirements and delivers effective technical solutions.
  • Leads strategic IT projects and innovation initiatives.
  • Builds collaborative relationships across departments and promotes knowledge sharing.
  • Adheres to organizational values, ethics, compliance standards, and hospital policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high-level certifications may substitute.

Certifications

  • At least one industry certification required within the first year.
  • CCNP or higher Cisco certification required within one year of hire.

Experience

  • Five years of hands-on Cisco routing and switching experience (9300 series preferred).
  • Two or more years working with Cisco IPT solutions (CUCM, CUC, CIMP, voice gateways).
  • Extensive experience with routers, switches, LAN/WAN, QoS, VLANs, bandwidth modeling, and VoIP.
  • Three years of stateful firewall experience and two years with next-generation firewalls.
  • Preferred experience with SIP, H.323, legacy protocols, and Cisco Emergency Responder (CER).
