Job Summary: Must posses positive people skills and a can-do attitude. Must be willing to work flexible hours and/or shifts to accommodate the needs of the hospital, on call schedule and weekend work schedule. Accomplish all Facility P/M’s. Write P/M procedures for all new equipment using manufacturer service manual recommendations. Audit P/M’s assigned to ensure the preventive maintenance is effective. Audit P/M’s assigned to ensure the preventive maintenance is effective, Be involved in planning, maintenance and installation of all types Building Automation, HVAC and Refrigeration equipment. Plan, layout and perform a wide variety of plumbing, medical gas, chilled water, steam and other mechanical piping installations. Perform any other departmental maintenance work as assigned by your supervisor. Assist scheduling utility shutdowns due to construction and or maintenance. Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics. Order material as needed to complete work. Be proficient with the use of all tools, meters and other test equipment as required. Assist with the training of new employees. Assist in keeping assigned areas clean and neat in appearance. Report promptly all defective equipment to supervisor. Qualify for on call, weekend and off shift relief work.
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. HVAC and/or Unlimited Plumbing License and/or Unlimited Electrical License preferred. Universal refrigeration license preferred. Must be multi-talented with at least three years of specialized training/experience as an Electrician, Building Automation or Energy Management specialist, Plumber, or HVAC Technician. At least five additional years of experience in a hospital or industrial setting as a Plumber, Electrician, Energy Management Technician, or HVAC Technician preferred. Be familiar with a computer based Preventive Maintenance Program. Be familiar with electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC codes. Proficient in the installation methods for plumbing, medical gases, sprinkler systems, building automation, motor driven equipment, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics and other technical drawings as required to perform assigned duties. Have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License with no restrictions other than prescription eyeglasses or contacts. Capable of lifting fifty-pounds of weight, and physically able to do the job. Must be capable of climbing of any ladder(s) or scaffolding necessary to perform assigned duties. Must be capable of recognizing wiring color codes. Basic PC skills preferred.
