This position works one-on-one with a Registered Nurse (RN) to complete delegated tasks and provide direct patient care such as: obtain vital signs, phlebotomy, documentation, assist with ADL’s (activities of daily living), order and stock supplies, respond to patient call lights, unit orientation, and patient admission, transfer, and discharge. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of the Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This position will support the Send-Out department of the Clinical Laboratory. The Cardiopulmonary Technician will primarily be responsible for the continuous monitoring and interpreting of cardiac physiological data, detecting and documenting any changes in heart rhythm and arrhythmias according to department standards, and reporting any problems to a registered nurse or physician.
