Job Summary: Operates the communication system for the hospital, which involves notifying employees, physicians and security. Decisions must be made immediately and accurately when emergency plans are implemented. Must be customer focused at all times and assures that each customer is transferred to the appropriate extension or give the necessary information to complete the task. The Switchboard Operator serves as the Information/Communications Center of the hospital. Duties include answering incoming calls; transferring call to appropriate parties; announcing/re-announcing emergency procedures/calls, and assisting with outgoing calls.
