The APP Endocrine ambulatory works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team to provide endocrine consultation and management of ambulatory patients through the UKHC system. The APP functions as a member of the endocrine practice and is works as the expert to assist with chronic and acute conditions in ambulatory setting including being a resources for the multifaceted diabetes team. The APP has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice and education and has a responsibility for ensuring an environment of safe quality care. The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.

In some service lines the APP may perform the coordination of care from ICU or critical care to discharge and then back to the ambulatory setting. The APP has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice and education and ensuring an environment of safe quality care. This position is located off-campus in Lexington, KY at UKHC Turfland. The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for direct patient care and provides clinical support to providers. Duties include but are not limited to the following: obtaining patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking the clinic with supplies, navigating the electronic health record system, scheduling and follow-up with appointments, and assisting with medication fill requests, prior authorizations and scheduling tests, procedures, and consults. The MA will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians respectfully and follow UK Healthcare behavioral expectations for service excellence. The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum hourly rate for this position will now be $18.20/hour. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE The Advanced Practice Provider Neonatal ICU functions within the NICU and throughout the KCH service line and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions primarily in the inpatient ICU setting managing the care of acute and chronically ill neonates. The APP is generally on a service aligned team and manages the day-to-day patient care from ICU to step down to discharge. In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population as they return for follow up in the outpatient setting.
