The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for direct patient care and provides clinical support to providers. Duties include but not limited to the following: obtain patient medical history information, expedite patient flow, room patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigate electronic health record system, schedule and follow-up with appointments and assist with medication fill requests, prior authorizations and schedule tests, procedures and consults. Clinically competent certified/registered Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for day to day care of high acuity patient population and/or works in collaboration with clinic supervisors who have over 10 MAs/ CST IIIs in their clinic to orient, and train new MA staff. Assists in the creation of programs and processes to enhance the role of the MAs / Techs. Assists in the development of initiatives to improve clinical outcomes reliant on unlicensed assistive personnel role. The Medical Assistant Advanced will work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure high quality service and excellent outcomes. The MA Advanced will communicate with many members of the healthcare team and beyond representing UKHC and their specific clinic in a positive way and follow UK HealthCare behavioral expectations for service excellence.
