Reporting to the unit’s Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse works collaboratively with members of the Care Team to ensure that patients receive exceptional, high quality, patient-centered nursing care that meets their individual needs. The Venous Access Nurse is a registered nurse with specialized expertise in vascular access management, practicing in accordance with the Society for Vascular Access (SVA) standards and evidence‑based guidelines. The nurse is responsible for assessment, insertion, access, maintenance, and monitoring of vascular access devices, including peripheral IVs, midline catheters, PICC lines, central venous catheters, implanted ports, and dialysis catheters.
