Job Description Summary Ashley River Tower (ART) perioperative services is located on the fourth floor of the ART building.  The ART PACU is a 12-bed unit that provides post-operative care for a diverse population of adult outpatient and inpatient surgeries through various surgical service lines. These include general, plastics, oncology, cardiac, interventional cardiology, thoracic, vascular, colorectal, bariatric, and robotics.  ART PACU is open 24/7 except Sunday night, the unit is closed from 7:30pm- 7:30am, with normal Operating Room hours from 7:00am-7:30pm Monday- Friday.  PACU call teams are in place Friday PM-Monday AM for add-on cases on the weekends. Responsibilities The Certified Surgical Tech First Assistant (CSTFA) works as a member of the perioperative team under the direction of the surgeon. He/she performs responsibilities of both the Surgical Technologist and the Surgical First Assistant based on department needs and as directed by the department leadership. The CSTFA practices within the scope of the job description and performs clinical and technical skills under surgeon supervision to assist with carrying out a safe operation with optimal patient results.
