The primary purpose of the Nurse Manager position is to operationalize the care delivery system in Perioperative Services through the skillful directing, coaching, support and delegation to staff in the provision of clinically and fiscally sound care and services to achieve patient/family goals, efficiency and safety . The Nurse Manager has 24 hours responsibility for the unit/service area and develops dynamically functioning surgical teams . She/he sustains the daily operational functioning of the surgical service and makes immediate modifications to prevent impediments and delays . This role is also accountable for the execution of the unit/service area Performance Improvement Plan.
