The advanced practice provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) within the acute care hospital setting works in collaboration with, and is an integral member of, a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP provides comprehensive care on t he Observation service which is an extension of the Emergency Department Job/Practice Description Busy Academic Medical Center Patient population- adults on the service treated for a variety of conditions with an estimated 24 hour stay. Specific duties include admissions, rounding, responding to changes in clinical condition of patients, coordination with consultants, organizing discharges.
