The Samaritan Emergency Department is part of the Emergency Service Line and is a community hospital ED. Triage where the patient is seen to determine how to prioritize their care needs, chair centric and express care intended for low acuity patients that can be seen and discharged within 60 minutes, these patients usually have minor complaints like sore throat, an isolated extremity injury, or simple laceration. The acute care area is a 16-bed area where common emergency complaints like abdominal pain, stable chest pain, and mild to moderate shortness of air receive care. Any high acuity patients will be transported to the Level I Trauma Center ED at Chandler. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction.
