General Summary Provides clinical and administrative services involving dermatology medical care to patients in a specialty practice setting. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Examine skin to identify and diagnose disorders and diseases of the human skin. Perform surgical procedures ranging from biopsy to excision to support diagnosis and treatment. Conduct complete skin evaluations. Take medical histories and use a dermatoscope (magnifying or illuminated device), to detect abnormalities or malignancies. Use diagnostic techniques, such as biopsies, to identify diseases and determine appropriate therapies. Prescribes and administers patient medications. Performs a variety of laboratory procedures, examines sample tissues, and uses various biological and chemical analyses to identify harmful organisms or pathological conditions. UPMC Community Pharmacy is looking for a pharmacy student to join their team as a Pharmacy Intern at their Magee Outpatient Pharmacy location. Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Director, and general supervision of the Staff Pharmacist, the Pharmacy intern will perform a wide variety of functions to support the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients at UPMC. These services will be provided in compliance with state and federal regulations, the Joint Commission Standards and the mission and policies of the hospital and departments. The internship provides a hands-on experience and a challenging environment to progressively develop the operational and clinical skills to grow in the field of pharmacy.
