DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Provides technical care for patients within assigned unit of hospital in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital, the Surgical Technician is responsible for delegated care for all patients assigned to him/her by the RN. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The primary purpose of the First Assistant is to work under the direction of the Surgeon and in collaboration with the Coordinator and team in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations. Assisting to provide a safe operation with optimal patient outcomes. SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: An integral member of the team who maintains positive working relationships with patients, families and coworkers inter- and intra-departmentally. Ability to perform all surgical skills as a 1st and/or 2nd assistant in surgical procedures. In addition to 1st assisting responsibilities may include circulating, scrubbing and other duties assigned within licensed scope of practice. Provides surgical site exposure, handling and/or cutting of tissues and providing hemostasis. Demonstrates understanding of suture types, skin types and closure of all incisions....
