Overview About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who, through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician, is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that include ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self – evaluation, leadership, and research. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Advanced Nurse Practice (APN) position is to be a skilled health care provider who has a written collaborative practice agreement with the Physicians in the Orthopaedic Clinic and is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. The APN collaborates with the Practice Managers and Physicians regarding Standards of Care for the Orthopaedic Practice and mentors/supervises staff and students regarding management of orthopaedic patients through evidence based practice. Through the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, the APN addresses the behavioral aspects of illness and disease.
