About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that includes ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self-evaluation, leadership and research. The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The APN in the Hematology/Oncology Practice utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of patients diagnosed with a variety of hematologic or oncologic diseases.
