POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction of the Senior Director, Medical Information Services manages the daily activities, general supervision and coordination of the inpatient medical record processing areas assuming and exercising line authority as delegated to include supervision of the management staff and systems. Develops and implements policies and procedures. Plans improvements in work processes and personnel functions. Assists in the preparation of annual budget requests and monitors expenditures against allocated budget funds. Promotes the University Health System's guest relations policy. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE An Associates degree or Bachelor's degree from an approved program for Health Information Management or related field with at least one year of medical records experience required. POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Works under the direct supervision of the Coding and Reimbursement Manager, Health Information Management. Codes inpatient, outpatient surgery and observation visits utilizing the ICD-9-CM and CPT coding classification systems. Assists in the training of new coding technicians when appropriate. Promotes University Health's guest relations' policy. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or it's equivalent is required. Must have three years of inpatient coding experience. Formalized education and training through an accredited coding program required. Candidate will also possess one of the following certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator, (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or CPC (Certified Professional Coder). Knowledgable of regulatory requirements. Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products as well as 3M Encoding and Grouping software.
