The Nurse Technician is a student RN working under the direct supervision of an RN assisting the nursing staff with patient care. Nurse Technicians performs various patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.  The Nurse Technician assists with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties. 1.   Patient Care •    Assists in preparing unit and patient room and bed to ensure that patients are adequately and properly accommodated during their hospital stay. The Monitor Tech monitors patients EKG rhythm patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in rhythms. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision. Interpretation & Reporting of Cardiac Monitoring Accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and records monitor strips on the cardiac monitoring form on all telemetry patients every 8 hours and as needed. Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the nurse. Recognizes interference and artifact and is able to troubleshoot and correct problems. Reports to the Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, and/or Shift Supervisor.  Job Function : 1. Transports patients using wheelchair or stretcher within the hospital and to and from vehicles. 2. Assists those patients requiring help with ambulation. 3. Provides general and basic patient care, such as positioning patients, lifting and turning, assisting in use of bedpan, commode, and urinal or bathroom. 4. Answers and responds to call lights or uses intercom to determine patient needs, and advises nurse of needs beyond scope of position. 5. Cleans and changes stretcher linen between patients and as needed during patient visit. 6. Empties dirty laundry. 7. Labels, bags, and delivers samples to lab per hospital protocol. 8.
