A Patient Access Clerk is a specialized health care professional who is responsible for obtaining and verifying patient demographic and insurance information to ensure proper billing of patient account as well as a means of contacting the patient in regards to their treatment and/or billing issues.  Patient Access Clerks are the front line of Marshall Medical Centers and expected to be an exemplary model of customer service. They collect lab specimens, register them, and prepare them for transport to MMC for processing to the specifications outlined in the laboratory policies and procedures.   They ensue that diagnostic testing is ordered to the provider and patient’s preference and according to the guidelines set by the department and Central Scheduling.
