About this Job: Unit Highlights The 5 West Surgical Unit has the capacity to serve up to (20) patients with a focus on a variety of surgical specialty patients. Many of these patients have elective surgeries and are discharged within 1-2 days of their procedure. These specialties include but are not limited to: Orthopedic, Bariatric, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Spinal Surgery. Staff are uniquely trained to work with these patients as they are educated in general post-operative patient care as well as the aspects of each specialty care domain. Staff on this unit will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team which includes: PACU staff, Attending Surgical Providers, Surgical Physician Assistants, Hospitalists, Physical Therapy/Rehab, Respiratory Therapy, and of course Nursing. We utilize approaches such as Spinning Babies and Bundle Birth to promote safe outcomes and maintain cesarean rates below the national average. Our close-knit team of highly trained nurses-certified in electronic fetal monitoring and STABLE-delivers compassionate, high-quality care in a collaborative environment. We are a smaller unit with 5 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 1 PACU, and 2 ORs, as well as 10 Postpartum rooms.
