GENERAL SUMMARY: Registered Respiratory Therapists deliver both routine and critical care services for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory dysfunction, including, but not limited to oxygen and aerosol therapy, respiratory care treatments, pulmonary diagnostic procedures, airway management, ventilator management, patient assessment and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Registered Respiratory Therapist works independently in all areas of the hospital. They take an active role in planning departmental operations as needed. Patient Care: Before the first treatment on any field (initial or boost) the therapist will do the following: check the calculations sheet and simulation sheet with the record and verify system to assure that all of the entries have been correct They will initial the calculation sheet and place an entry in the treatment chart stating that they verified the initial IMPAC set-up and simulation information. The chart will be checked to make sure that there is a signed consent form, face photo and simulation pictures are present. They will review the simulation film before the first treatment. They will record the initial set-up date on treatment parameters sheets and report any deviation to physicist/dosimetry.
