Overview Pediatrics is a 38 bed medical surgical floor located within Women and Children’s Hospital. Our nurses focus on the medical needs and treatment of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to 21 years of age. Their specialized training allows them to provide their patients and families with age appropriate emotional support and medical care. Our nurses are part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Pediatric Hospitalists, Nurse Practitioners, Residents, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Pharmacists, Dieticians, Social Workers and Child Life Therapy. The pediatric nurse must be caring, compassionate, and have critical thinking skills. The nurse will need to assess a patient’s condition as well as detect any changes and will need to recognize when further intervention is necessary.
