HIM Coding Tech II DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Codes Inpatient, Observation and Same Day Surgery (SDS) charts using ICD10-CM and CPT coding guidelines. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Checks inpatient, observation and same day surgery charts for completeness of documentation by working the coding queues. Uses ICD10-CM and CPT coding guidelines to accurately and completely assign codes to each patient chart. Communicates with physicians and other personnel as needed to locate and code certain emergency room, outpatient/clinic/ancillary records.
