Job Summary :  Performs a variety of technical duties under the supervision of a licensed nurse.  Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures.  Assures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure.  Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments.  Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.   Qualifications :  Completion of 12th grade (high school) or equivalent.  1 year experience in specialty area required; 1 year travel experience preferred.   Cannot be FT or PT employee at CaroMont.   Satisfactory completion of accredited surgical technologist program or diploma for operating room technician from Armed Forces required.. Responsibilities The Certified Surgical Tech First Assistant (CSTFA) works as a member of the perioperative team under the direction of the surgeon. He/she performs responsibilities of both the Surgical Technologist and the Surgical First Assistant based on department needs and as directed by the department leadership. The CSTFA practices within the scope of the job description and performs clinical and technical skills under surgeon supervision to assist with carrying out a safe operation with optimal patient results. The CSTFA is educated and skilled in both the handling and use of surgical instruments on tissues.  The CSTFA does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse.    Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times.
