About this Job: MedStar Health is looking for  a  Cath/IR Lab Technologist  to join our team at Medstar Health Southern Maryland Hospital located in Clinton, MD.   As a  Cath/IR Lab Technologist , you will assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in the Cath/Angio/EP Lab specializing in the care of patients undergoing PTCA, stent placement, IABP placement, embolization of vascular bleeds, thrombolysis catheter insertion, and EP devices and ablations. Additionally, assists physicians with nonvascular procedures such as percutaneous drain placements, gastrostomies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and other interventional radiology procedures. With increased experience provides resource and mentoring to new staff while exhibiting enhanced technical skills. About this Job: General Summary of Position Administers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients. Operates x-ray equipment develops film prepare patient's room equipment supplies and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities   Prepare room equipment medicine and materials as needed for patients. Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment. Prepare barium preparation and other chemical mixture for x-rays. Prepare patient for x-rays explains procedures transfers patient to table position patient and assists patient at end of procedure. Follow prescribed techniques in administrating general and specific x-rays. Adjusts equipment determines proper voltage current and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient and adjusts the lead shield and selects proper film. Radiographs all incoming patients.
