Job Summary The Surgical Tech Student Intern is a temporary position for surgical tech students to practice in surgical areas. The Surgical Tech Student Intern is co-assigned with a Certified Surgical Tech and may perform direct and indirect patient care under Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Physician supervision. Description Summary: Emergency Care Center Technician Senior works with the RNs in the Emergency Room to provide care to patients. They have special skills beyond those of a basic Emergency Technician; for example, they can perform venipuncture, dress wounds, remove staples and sutures, and measure peak expiratory flow rate. Responsibilities: Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Gives basic care to patients in a compassionate manner. Takes and records the following vital signs and reports any change or abnormal findings to the RN: Temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure. Gives the following treatments, maintaining respect for patient's privacy: weigh patient, test urine (acetone, sugar, blood), apply warm/cold compresses, apply ice caps, and care for the body after death.
