Job Description: The CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Responsibilities The Certified Surgical Tech First Assistant (CSTFA) works as a member of the perioperative team under the direction of the surgeon. He/she performs responsibilities of both the Surgical Technologist and the Surgical First Assistant based on department needs and as directed by the department leadership. The CSTFA practices within the scope of the job description and performs clinical and technical skills under surgeon supervision to assist with carrying out a safe operation with optimal patient results. The CSTFA is educated and skilled in both the handling and use of surgical instruments on tissues.  The CSTFA does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse.    Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times.
