DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direction of ED Medical Director, The Emergency Department (ED) Paramedic Program is designed so that the Licensed Paramedic functions as a team member in the Emergency Department, working with the ED physicians, nurses and technicians. While in the ED, the EMT-P is responsible to adhere to the hospital Standards of Patient Care and Policies/Procedures and function within his/her scope of practice as defined on application. Pre-hospital LA EMS protocols do not apply within the confines of the ED - physician orders are required prior to interventions. The Paramedic will also function as a member of the patient transfer team when acute inter-facility transfers are required.
