Responsibilities
The Operating Room/Organ Preservation Technician assists the operating room staff before, during and after donor organ recovery procedures, as well as during organ transplant procedures and other hepatobiliary procedures. Under the direction of a physician, prepares organs for perfusion and monitors preservation parameters during perfusion, reporting perfusion parameters to the surgeon. As a certified operating room technician, possesses the knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and implementation tools to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Responsible for maintaining the Organ Preservation Lab, including ordering and rotating supplies, and ensuring proper inventory and storage.
