Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, assists in providing pharmaceutical services to patients and staff in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Interns assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. The intern pharmacist is responsible for technical, clerical and transportation duties for the department and is involved with the preparation, distribution and delivery of medication. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Position Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. College courses desirable but not required. Valid state pharmacy technician registration. Certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or proof that certification is in progress must be submitted within 6 months of hire.
