RNs on our 38 bed Mother/Baby unit provide family centered couplet care. Shortly after delivery, a dedicated team of nurses help mom and baby with skin-to-skin bonding and breastfeeding. The Mother Baby unit allows for rooming-in, lactation support, and designated quiet hours. The Mother/Baby RN is skilled in assessing, educating, and caring for postpartum mothers and newborns. The RN identifies patient needs, prioritizes care based on assessments, and is accountable for patient care delivered during the assigned shift. The Mother/Baby RN collaborates and effectively communicates with multidisciplinary team members.
