ABOUT THE ROLE The Advanced Practice Provider Neonatal ICU functions within the NICU and throughout the KCH service line and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions primarily in the inpatient ICU setting managing the care of acute and chronically ill neonates. The APP is generally on a service aligned team and manages the day-to-day patient care from ICU to step down to discharge. In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population as they return for follow up in the outpatient setting. The APP may also play a role in the admission process including deliveries. The APP has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice and education and has a responsibility for ensuring an environment of safe quality care. ABOUT THE ROLE The Cardiac Lung Service Line night shift APP works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions as a member of the surgical management team throughout the cardiac lung service line . In conjunction with the attending, the APP will oversee care from OR/inpatient to discharge and throughout all aspects of the continuum of care. UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital : The University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital is a 569-bed acute care hospital. It has Central and Eastern Kentucky s only Level I trauma center and handles the most severe traumas. It has the only Level 4 neonatal intensive care unit in the area to treat the sickest infants. The hospital offers 100 intensive care beds, a post-anesthesia care unit, 17 operating rooms, 14-bed labor and delivery and 26 mother-baby rooms.
