POSITION SUMMARY: The Radiologic Technologist with independent judgment and initiative, administers ionizing radiation to patients for the purpose of obtaining radiographic images; assists during fluoroscopy and special procedures, operates X-ray equipment, develops film, prepares patient's room, equipment, supplies and non-pharmaceuticals such as oral and I.V. contrasts, provides patient services using imaging modalities and performs related duties as assigned. The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide Diagnostic Imaging services appropriate to the age of the patients, cognizant of safety issues both environmental and medical, responsible for adjusting protocols as necessary, and for communicating instructions appropriate to the specific needs of the patient and knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect in the adult, geriatric or pediatric patient. Provides prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals as needed and assures responsible provision of drug therapy for the purposes of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life.
