JOB DESCRIPTION: The Mammography Technologist demonstrates progressive knowledge and sense of responsibility in the daily operations of the mammography department. Must meet all initial and continuing requirements in training, experience and education in digital mammography and breast tomosynthesis as defined and outline by FDA and ACR, in accordance with MQSA guidelines. Required to complete and pass all mammography competencies prior to working independently and agree to take the ARRT mammography boards within one year of start date. All technologist(s) must perform weekly quality control as required by the FDA and ACR. POSITION SUMMARY At the administrative direction of the Director and the Operations Supervisor and the clinical direction of the Radiologist / Team Leader, independently performs all types of mammographic breast imaging procedures. Assists in the technical orientation of cross-training staff and to instruct them in complex or difficult procedures. Acquires and maintains certification relevant to mammography per facility and FDA/MQSA requirements. Position requires the flexibility to cross train in other Radiology modalities based upon departmental staffing needs. BASIC KNOWLEDGE Employees who are cross-trained in more than one DI modality are responsible for all aspects of the job descriptions in each separate modality.
