The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Certified will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This position will be instrumental in maintaining a quality of service based on accuracy and timely result reporting. This position will be located in the Core Lab, and testing will include, but is not limited to, blood gas, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis. The Core Lab has multiple testing sites within the organization: Chandler, Good Samaritan, ED Satellite and Markey Satellite. Must successfully meet required performance standards of competency and proficiency testing. Performs primary screening of cytology slides with accuracy. Has similar pick-up rates for abnormalities and error rates do not exceed thresholds. Performs immediate adequacy evaluations for aspirate and touch prep slides. Accurately uses computer system to record all procedures that are performed and to enter interpretations for reports.
