Overview
About the Role The primary purpose of the Accession Area Technician position is to facilitate the flow of work through the Accession Area. Responsible for entering orders and scanning specimens for laboratory tests into laboratory information system (LIS) via a computer terminal. Responsible for retrieving laboratory data from the LIS in order to respond to inquiries from the clinical units concerning test results. Responsible for maintaining working knowledge of the Laboratory and the Hospital Information Systems. Performs routine tasks required for maintaining computer and office equipment within the laboratory. Develops good rapport between the house staff, nursing staff, and patients and the Clinical Laboratory. Assists in processing samples for Reference Laboratories.
