Overview The phlebotomist works under the immediate supervision of the Medical Technologist/Technician, is primarily responsible for the phlebotomy procedures, including veni-punctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, bleeding times, urine collection and drug screen collections. The phlebotomist is also responsible for processing in the reference lab reports and for sorting/charting various lab results. The phlebotomist is expected to assist in certain clerical duties, such as running daily reports, assisting with the out-patients, taking orders off of the computer, putting up supplies and cleaning their trays and any work area. Overview Job Summary . Performs repetitive and complex laboratory analyses.  Correlates and interprets laboratory data based on knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results.
