DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The General Lab Women’s Phlebotomist collects clinical laboratory samples to be tested in the clinical laboratory. The General Lab Women’s Phlebotomist will collect blood samples through the use of skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, urine samples, and other specialty collections.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Pathology
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Uses Mobile devices according to policy.
Use and maintain Mobile devices and Spectralink phones according to policy.
Utilizes departmental communication platforms.
Meets blood culture contamination rate of < 1.0%, if applicable campus/area. Utilize blood diversion devices.
Meets rejected specimen rate of < 2%, if applicable campus/area.
Utilizes proper hand washing.
Assists clerks with receiving specimens, answering the phone and other duties when available.
Meets established turnaround times for STAT, In AM, Timed, and routine orders....
